Special tribute build
Cast your mind back a little and you may recall HDT Special Vehicles in Sydney was for a while there producing a string of spectacular Blue Meanie tribute cars from then current-model Holdens. This is one of them.
As for the base car, GMH invested a huge amount of effort and money into the VE series. Cliff Chambers noted in a feature on it: “The VE began life as an almost clean sheet and went on sale in 2006 as a vastly different car from the VZ it replaced.
“A totally new structure swept away issues that had been simmering since the 1990s and were never properly addressed. The new design was primarily concerned with protecting occupants in the event of an unavoidable crash, but also went to improving handling and controlling NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness).”
This example claims a considerable amount of recent work, including a rebuilt engine that is said to produce 330kW (440hp) at the rear wheels. The 6.0lt V8 is matched to a six-speed manual transmission.
It’s with Prestige Motor Gallery in Sydney and is priced at $49,990.
