2008 FPV F6X – Todays Tempter

One of FPV’s oft-forgotten models: Approximately 230 built, turbocharged Barra, auto

Launched with the promise of Porsche Cayenne performance without the Porsche Cayenne pricetag, FPV’s F6X of 2008 is an often-forgotten foray into the sporty SUV market by the former Aussie power house.

They started at $75,990 new, $10,500 more than the standard Territory Turbo, with the only available options being satellite navigation, a stripe kit, and a third row of seats.

As a locally-built SUV, it had no real competitors given its sizeable pricetag, yet undercut the more expensive German SUVs significantly.

Suspension tuning differed from the standard Territories, while 355mm six-piston Brembo brakes up front provided the stopping power. The turbocharged 4.0lt Barra motor was good for 270kW and 550Nm of torque, and differed from the those found in the standard Territory Turbo and BA Falcon XR6T with revised and strengthened internals, unique oil cooler and a 50% larger intercooler.

Production numbers are unclear, even within former FPV communications, however it’s believed that around 230 were produced in total.

This one is an extremely early build, finished in late 2007 and representing build #002.

It presents well-kept in photos throughout and comes with documented and up-to-date service history and a full suite of original books.
