Rare beast
As we pointed out in a feature on a sister car from TVR: “TVR isn’t a marque that would feature on too many enthusiasts’ bucket lists and is even less well recognised away from Europe. Founded in the late 1940s, it has been a respected manufacturer of low-volume sporting cars in a similar vein to Lotus or Morgan.”
From the point-of-view of some owners, that relative obscurity will be part of the attraction.
Introduced in 1999 for the 2000 model year, the Tuscan Speed Six featured a 4.0lt version of the company’s own twin-cam straight six, claiming 268kW at 7000rpm and 420Nm at 5250. With a weight of around 1100kg, that resulted in some startling acceleration times, sub- four seconds for the 0-100km/h sprint.
TVR typically goes for the minimum tech route, arguing the cars have high primary safety. So don’t go looking for ABS, traction control of airbags. They were pitched very much at the ‘purist’ market.
This example is at Lorbek, claiming around 18,400 miles on the odo. Located in Melbourne, it’s priced at $149,990.
