After an initially slow take-up in the market, the Porsche Boxster series has established itself as a very desirable alternative to a 911 and for many drivers represents a superior handling package.
Staffer Dave Morley owns a Boxster S and had this to say about it: “The car itself? Bloody brilliant. I was a judge on Motor mag’s Performance Car of the Year in 2002, when the Boxster S beat all comers (including the BMW M5, 911 GT3, HSV Clubsport, Audi S4, and many others) to take home the chockies.”
According to the seller: “In 2004 Porsche wished to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of its legendary 550 Spyder and to do so delivered a limited and very special Boxster S. Worldwide only 1953 cars were made and ours is one of those. A plaque in the centre console confirms it is number 479 of this limited run.”
It’s running a 3.2lt flat six with six-speed manual transmission.
The car is with Classic Car Market in Qld and is priced at $49,995.
