2002 Holden Monaro V2 – Todays Tempter

Modern classic Lion coupe: 148,000kms, manual, always garaged and serviced

Holden’s VX-based Monaro remains one of the best looking Lions this side of the millennium, and stunned the automotive industry at its concept unveiling in 1998.

Holden was never actually intending to bring back the Monaro at the time – but the overwhelming response the coupe concept received forced their hand.

Initially, buyers could opt for the supercharged 3.8lt CV6 with an automatic gearbox only, or the CV8 which received the Gen III 5.7lt V8 and either a six-speed manual or four-speed auto. The CV6 was removed from the line up amidst a 2003 facelift due to poor sales.

This 2002 Monaro represents one of the last of the V2 Series I cars, and presents in CV8 specification with the six-speed manual. Always garaged and serviced and apparently in roadworthy condition, the car has been with the seller since 2006 and currently bears 148,000kms on the odometer.

It’s been given a few personal touches over its life: such as the Kenwood stereo (original radio is available if requested), GTS body stripes, cold air intake, lowered and aftermarket wheels – though nothing that can’t be undone!

Overall, it presents well as a useable modern day toy – and this one in particular sits about $10,000 cheaper than the others available on our classifieds.

The car is listed for $25,000 and is based in Victoria.
