Tickford Terrific
The AU Ford Falcon is the first iteration of the sixth generation of one of Australia’s most iconic automotive monikers.
Released in September of 1998, the AU replaced the outgoing EL Falcon and stayed in production until September of 2002.
Changes made over its predecessor were countless, as the AU was an entirely new car, and cost Ford over $700 million dollars to develop.
The AU was made available to customers in a number of different body styles that included a four-door sedan, five-door and a two-door ute.
Power was derived from a range of motors that comprised a 4.0lt inline six cylinder and a 5.0lt and 5.6lt Windsor V8.
The shove from the motors was sent to the AU rear wheels via either a four-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission.
The AU model range was expansive, and included the Forte, S, Futura, XR6, XR8, Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia.
This particular AU is a 2001 XR8 Tickford Ute and it comes equipped with the 5.0lt Windsor V8 and four-speed automatic transmission.
According to the seller, these vehicles are becoming rare and this XR8 is in excellent mechanical condition.
The AU Falcon XR8 is $9990 and anyone interested in this V8 Aussie workhorse can view the full listing here.
