Sleek V8
In a V8 Ferrari round-up in 2009, Which Car noted: “Ferrari completely reinvented the V8 model line with the 360 Modena in 1999, adopting aluminium monocoque construction and allowing the wind tunnel to dictate the proportions more than before.”
Ferarri teamed up with smelting giant Alcoa to produce the chassis for this car, which although 10 per cent larger than its predecessors claimed to be 28 per cent lighter.
Pininfarina handled the styling.
Powering the two-seater was a Tipo 131 3.6lt V8 claiming 395 horsepower (294kW) matched to a six-speed manual transmission.
As you might expect several variants were produced over the years, including a spyder and track-focused Challenge Stradale.
This example is a 2001 Modena with a little under 57,000km on the odo. It’s with Lorbek in Melbourne, priced at $209,990.
