1996 Ford Falcon XH XR6 – Todays Tempter

Well-cared for XHII XR6: Three owners, resprayed, always serviced, good condition

While the new EA Falcon superseded the XF range in 1988; with no suitable utility replacements, the ute and panel van marched on through XG and XH series up until 1999.

Utilising an ageing platform, the cars underwent various facelifts to keep in line with the contemporary passenger cars. In the XH’s case, releasing in 1996, it wore the modern curved noise of the EF sedans on the road at the time, and also benefitted from the Falcon’s rack-and-pinion steering and new front suspension.

The XHII mid-life update introduced the 5.0lt V8 to the range, as an option for the auto S model and, as standard equipment to the XR8. The XR6 continued to utilise the 4.0lt inline-six.

This XHII XR6 comes to market very well-kept and coming from a line of Ford-enthusiast ownership.

The seller states that the XH ute has had three owners from new, and has never been used as a workhorse in its life.

The ute was given a respray two years ago, and comes with lowered suspension, refreshed brakes, reconditioned wheels, and re-gassed and functioning air-conditioning.

The seller also has original front springs, and all original red body moulds, as well as the original tow bar, white tray back cover and full original log books and owner’s manual.

Specified with the four-speed auto, the XH is said to have clocked 193,000kms on the odometer. From available photos, it presents well throughout and may appeal as an affordable and useable weekender.

The XR6 ute is based in New South Wales and is listed for $12,000.
