I’ve owned this car for 12 years now, I wanted a Sprint specifically because I’ve always got a kick out of the rarity; they only made something like 360 of them. It’s fair to say I’m a Ford man, I’ve got several others including an XP Falcon Ute, TE Cortina, MK2 Cortina, a ’66 American Fairlane and an XR race car which I take to a lot of historic hill climbs and club events.

I’m not happy about Ford’s departure from Australia, but if people aren’t buying the cars then what are you gonna do? I do think Ford could have marketed themselves better, but I have a feeling Detroit had a lot to do with it too, so it was probably out of Ford Australia’s hands. I started out interested in Zephyrs and Capris, but now I’m starting to like the new stuff. I can certainly see myself driving a new Mustang, or a Ford Focus RS — 260kW and all-wheel-drive sounds like a lot of fun to me.
