One of the best from the Blue Oval
The EB II Falcon GT was a limited run special created to celebrate the 25 anniversary of the original Falcon XR GT.
They are a rare breed, with only 250 ever making it off the production line. Of that 250, 115 were given a 5-speed manual gearbox and the other 135 a 4-speed automatic.
Power was derived 5.0l V8 that pushed out 200kW and 420Nm, which was enough power to propel the GT from rest to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds.
The EB II GT project was overseen by Howard Marsden, the man who oversaw Ford Australia’s touring car program between 1971 and 1974. Marsden also oversaw the design and production of the GTHO Phase III and Phase IV.
The unique bodykit that was fitted to the GT was meant to reduce body lift by up to 40 per cent. The overall aesthetics of the aero-kit were striking, and to this day it is still one of the most iconic and recognisable limited-run Blue Ovals ever to hit the bitumen.
The GT was only ever available on three colours: Cobalt Blue, Cardinal Red and Black Pearl. However, Cobalt Blue was discontinued by Ford, as the paint was deemed to be too translucent in direct sunlight.
This particular EB II GT is a 1993 model with an incredibly low 24,500 kilometres on the clock from new.
It is build number 234 and is finished in Cardinal Red. In addition, this GT is fitted with the 5-speed manual box, which is surely the enthusiast’s choice.
The seller is asking $44,600 for this piece of Aussie automotive history, and anyone interested can view the full listing here.
