V12 supercar
Back in the mid-1980s, Lamborghini was facing an enviable if herculean task: how to come up with a worthy successor to the legendary Countach.
After a somewhat infamous battle over the final shape of the car, the Diablo emerged as a worthy successor, named for a fighting bull that was the subject of a 19th century epic.
Powering the car was a four-valve V12, 5.7lt 485hp engine (later taken out to 6.0lt), matched to a five-speed manual gearbox.
A top speed of 325km/h (202mph) for a time made it the quickest production car in the world.
