1992 HSV VP Clubsport – Todays Tempter

#209 of 387: Full suite of original books and documentation, all original

HSV’s Clubsport nameplate was the brainchild of HSV’s famed marketing manager John Harvey, who saw it put “the V8 performance car back into the reach of Mr Joe Average”.

Cosmetically, the VP wasn’t vastly different to the preceding VN – however boasted a swathe of mechanical developments under its skin.

Most notable was the adoption of independent rear suspension with semi-trailing arms which greatly improved vehicle dynamics. Under the bonnet sat the 180kW 5.0lt V8, with power sent to the rear via a five-speed manual or four-speed auto.

Of the 387 produced of HSV’s first Clubsport, this car on sale here is number 209.

It was sold new by Garry & Warren Smith Holden in Victoria in September 1992 and has travelled just 194,000kms since.

It presents in exceedingly original condition, finished in its original paint and completely unmodified with its dealer sticker still present on the rear window.

The car comes with original books, new sale documentation and HSV certificate.

With reasonably low kilometres, and in outstanding original condition – the VP Clubby would be a great bit of kit to keep in the garage and enjoy on the weekend.

It’s a notable early HSV model with a comparatively small production run – and should have plenty of headroom in the future for appreciation as the rest of its Holden elders continue to trend upwards in value and scarcity.

The car is based in Queensland and is listed for $29,990.
