1992 Honda NSX – Todays Tempter

Japan’s world-beating supercar – all original and ‘developed’ by Senna

It could be said that when the Honda NSX arrived, the Italian supercar makers were somewhat resting on their laurels.

No one expected Honda – or any Japanese car maker – to put the Italians on notice; but the NSX was a world beater.

Our sister publication Wheels magazine pitted the then-new NSX against the Ferrari 348ts, Lotus Esprit S4 and the Porsche 911 in the May 1994 issue, and claimed the NSX was: “by almost any rational measure, is the best, most perfect, of these cars”.

Few Japanese cars have gained such praise since, but Honda’s supercar was not without its merit.

The Honda NSX was the first aluminium monocoque production car, with near-perfect chassis balance, unrivalled structural rigidity and, in the late stages of its development, was fettled by F1 legend Ayrton Senna.

NSXs are rare by today’s standards. When was the last time you saw one on the road?

They’re also steadily appreciating as they increasingly slide into the nostalgic minds of today’s young collectors.

This 1992 Honda NSX finished in Formula Red presents all original, with supercar performance and style, and Honda reliability.

It’s an Aussie-delivered car, original sold from a Gold Coast dealership, and has covered 119,091kms in its lifetime.

The car bears various service receipts from the 2000s to date, and will be sold with Victorian RWC.

The car is available via The Healey Factory in Melbourne, and is listed for $140,000.
