2016 Mercedes-Benz SLK200 – today’s tempter

1991 Mercedes-Benz SLK200

The release of the Benz R172 series represented a major styling shift for the two-seater SL series, with strong SLS influences that gave them a far less Conservative look than the immediate predecessors.

A review by Auto Express in the UK says: “Our 1.8-litre model has the ability to cruise around town quietly or, under heavy throttle loads, delivers a rorty soundtrack into the cabin, allowing drivers to savour the best of both worlds.

“With the roof down, the aural appeal is even greater, and the Airguide draught stop device
– which swings into place
from behind the driver and
passenger seats – keeps wind
buffeting to a minimum.

“The interior is top-notch, with fantastic build quality.”

This example is running the 1.8lt inline four rated at 181hp with seven-speed automatic transmission.

John Conroy in Brisbane has it on the market for $38,990.
