Very neat V8 EB Fairmont, Tickford wheels, new windscreen and more
The Ford EB arrived in 1991 and was a much-improved facelift of the notoriously unreliable EA.
Visually, not much had changed, but the EB ironed out many of the predecessor’s reliability issues; as well as introducing updates such as improved front suspension thanks to upgraded springs, gas shocks, and alignment adjustments yielding greater negative camber and castor.
The big news was the return of the beloved V8 (a Mustang-sourced 5.0lt Windsor in this instance), not available since the XE Falcon of the early 80s.
For enthusiasts, the EB Falcon also heralded the return of the Falcon GT, as well as the introduction of the XR6 and XR8 nameplates.
This first-year EB Fairmont is specified with the 5.0lt V8 and paired with a four-speed automatic.
It’s in remarkably good condition given how many of these historically unloved Falcons ended up.
The listing indicates an odometer reading of 138,000kms; and the seller states that the car has received a new windscreen, new lower control arms, camber and castor bushes, new tyres and its air conditioning re-gassed.
It’s reportedly a two owner car that’s “well-maintained” and in very good condition throughout.
The exterior looks remarkably unmarked, while the interior is free of noticeable wear and tear.
It would make a cool casual cruiser or runabout to add to the fleet.
The EB is based in Victoria and listed for $10,000.
