1991-93 Holden VP Commodore – today’s tempter

V8 manual

According to the owner this ute was a special order, boasting the 5.0lt V8, five-speed manual, limited-slip diff and alloy wheels in an S pack. Not a bad package.

According to our mini profile on the series: “The VP was powered by a more refined version of the 3.8-litre V6 that was placed into later VNs. The 5.0-litre V8 was optional across the range. Independent suspension was standard under Calais and SS and optional on other sedans. Holden’s model range remained Executive, S, Berlina, Calais and SS and base and S versions of the Ute.”

In the case of utes, this is early in a generation where – for a lot of people – we saw them switch over from workhorses to weekend sports cars, a fun tax write-off and very much leisure vehicles.

Located near Perth, it claims 185,000km and to be in good survivor shape. It’s priced at $26,500.
