1990 Peugeot 205 GTi – today’s tempter

1990 Peugeot 205 GTi

While hot hatches are a familiar sight on our roads, that wasn’t always the case. And this Peugeot was one of the pioneers.

Our online review of the series notes: “On the road the 205 GTi is a joy to drive – fast, agile and responsive to all driver inputs, handling more like a go kart than a hatch with room for four… At its best when driven assertively, it corners as if on rails, with the caveat that as a pure front wheel drive car you need to keep the power on through the tight stuff.“

This example is running the 1.6lt inline four, matched to a five-speed manual transmission.

Originally delivered in the UK, it’s said to be in exact factory spec, right down to the stickers.

Young Timers Garage in Melbourne has it on the market at $39,990.
