With a reputation for solid engineering, older Benzes like this tend to be loved by the people who know them.

In a feature on the series we reveal: “The W124 Series was developed to fill a gap between Mercedes-Benz ‘compact’ cars that had flourished with minimal alteration since 1968, and the big, technically-complex S Class. Australia’s first exposure to the new shape came in 1986 via the 230/300E sedans and a 300D diesel with only 80kW but plentiful torque.”

This S124 wagon is running a 3.0lt six with four-speed automatic transmission.

The seller notes it has been overhauled.

Located in South Coogee (NSW), it’s on the market for $29,000.
