Well-kept Roadster with plenty of factory replacement components: just 35,000ks on fresh engine
It may come as a surprise to those who remember these humble little NA MX-5s as cheap and cheerful open-tops offering boat-loads amounts of driving bliss; but good unmodified examples are now increasingly rare and sought after. In many eyes, they’re a genuine classic!
They were produced in huge numbers, so they may not ever be pulling in huge amounts of money, but again – you may be surprised that these little champions are now frequently trading hands for five-figure sums!
They’re incredibly durable too, and offer the spirit of an MGB with all of the modern componentry.
They are beginning to get on in age however, and as reliable and enjoyable workhorses they are; perishables like interior leather, hoses and general mechanical wellbeing are slowly declining.
This one appears to be owned by a caring enthusiast owner. It’s had a heap of replacement parts put on, but still presents in largely factory-correct condition.
The chassis has 147,851kms on it, though it’s been fitted with a fresh short-crank 1.6lt motor that’s covered just 35,000kms on it.
The listing indicates that a full stainless steel exhaust has been fitted, as well as a “gearshift recon kit”.
The air-conditioning and power-steering has been reconditioned, and new leather boots have been fitted on the gearshifter and handbrake; as well as a new dash mat and floor mats inside.
It’s in running condition and the paint is said to be good.
If you’re after one of these charming little roadsters, this one might be worth a look!
The car is based in South Australia, and is listed for $10,000 (ONO).
