1986 HDT VL Group A – today’s tempter

1986 HDT VL Group A

This hails from a golden era for the HDT-Brock enterprise, when it was selling cars hand over fist and seemingly could do no wrong. However that was soon to sour.

As we note in a feature on these special cars: “The homologation car Brock came up with has, of course, gone on to become a legend in its own lifetime, and remains one of the most sought-after Aussie cars ever to hit the road. Based on a Commodore SL to keep weight down, all Group A SS production cars were painted Permanent Red.”

This car claims to be one of around 170 that escaped HDT with the controversial Plus Pack.

Under the bonnet is the tuned 4.9lt V8 with five-speed manual transmission.

It shows 110,000km on the odometer and is being sold out of Parramatta for $188,000.
