1986 Chevrolet Corvette C4 – today’s tempter

80s American muscle

The Chevrolet Corvette C4 was made between 1983 and 1996 on an all-new chassis with new styling and the return of the convertible.

Beefier engines were introduced over its life and a first was the use of plastic rear panels and bumper, along with a hatchback design for greater versatility, another first for Corvette.

Also new were a digital LCD instrument cluster and single headlights replacing dual lamps.

Standard, they came with a 350ci (5.7lt) V8 and four-speed auto.

Here’s our series feature.

This ex-Californian car is offered by its first Australian owner.

The seller says it has always been garaged, with 114,000kms on the clock. It claims to be original and unmolested, sports exhaust aside, with the leather interior and white exterior showing minimal clues to its age.

It also has its original carpet and a cassette deck, remember them? A left hooker, it comes with the original and optional sunroof, import documents and owner’s manual. Asking $34,995.
