1985 BMW E30 323I – Todays Tempter

After a cheap classic? Look no further - 102,600 kilometres and just three owners from new

BMW’s E30 3-series chassis is one of the most celebrated in history.

Largely regarded as one of the best driver’s chassis’ you can buy; it’s lauded for its vintage analogue experience, zippy short wheelbase and lightweight front-engined rear-drive layout.

E30s are in high demand, with the E30 M3 enjoying most of the limelight and collector desirability.

However, the more pedestrian models are similarly being dragged up on the coattails of the heroic M3 – and years as value performance buys now see good examples as a very rare sight.

This 1985 BMW 323I is one such gem, in rare original and frankly – spectacular condition.

Being a 323, it’s fitted with the 2.3lt inline-six, the second smallest six-cylinder that sat above a range of smaller four-cylinder engines.

The engine is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox, underpinning a sedan body finished in champagne bronze metallic paint.

The car reportedly has just 102,600kms on the chassis, and has been garaged its whole life. The car has had just three (mature owners) since new, and looks like an absolute time capsule.

Both outside and inside, the car is hard to fault. If we had to find a bad point from the photos, the window surrounds could use a polish – but the interior and dash look brand new, with nary a crack or tear to be seen.

If you’re after a cheap classic for the weekend, or are looking to restore a tidy German workhorse – this handsome old BMW asks just $7,500.

The car is based in Geelong, Victoria; and you can check out the full listing here!
