Very rare indeed
The WB series was the last of the breed for Holden’s large-sized, luxury focussed automobiles.
First released in May 1980, the WB replaced the outgoing HZ series and stayed in production until 1984, at which point GMH announced they would be leaving the big car market to focus more opulent versions of the then new Commodore.
The WB could be had in two models; the Statesman DeVille or the Statesman Caprice, and by the end of production in 1984, there were over 7500 models built.
Approximately 100 of these WB DeVilles and Caprices were even more special than their brethren however, because if you bought your WB, but felt like it needed a bit more performance or exclusivity, you could take it to HDT, who would transform it into a Magnum.
The Magnum transformation consisted a Group 3 spec 5.0lt V8 being fitted, as well as Bilstein dampers with lowered springs, chrome rocker covers, 15-inch alloy wheels, MOMO steering wheel, cold air intake and many other modifications.
This particular WB is an ’84 HDT Magnum finished in Alpine White with a Cerulean Blue interior and, according to the seller, the vehicle has approximately 288,000 kilometres on the clock.
The seller adds that the vehicle comes equipped with HDT colour coded bumpers, HDT optioned Caprice dash, Brock footrest and heavy duty sun visor clips.
The HDT Magnum is $36,000 and anyone interested in this unique Aussie classic can view the full listing here.
