1983 Toyota Supra MA61 – Todays Tempter

One-owner time warp – with faultless documentation and history since new

Toyota, in the early 80s, radically redesigned the Celica lineup, and brought with it the second-generation Celica Supra.

The MkII Supra was largely underpinned by the Celica chassis, though gained a distinguished front end characterised by pop-up headlights – and utilised Toyota’s “M” Series six-cylinder engine over the Celica’s smaller four-pot.

Overseas, the Supra lineup was divided into two models, the L-Type and P-type – denoting luxury and performance orientations respectively.

Australia, uniquely, gained the P-type’s visual cues such as the enlarged fender flares, wider 14×7″ wheels, LSD and a digital dash.

This MkII Supra MA61, was delivered new to Emptor Toyota in Springvale Melbourne, on November 28 1983.

Featuring the naturally aspirated six-cylinder mated to a four-speed automatic, the car gained further factory options such as cruise control, electric sunroof and eight-way adjustable sports seats.

Its sole owner originally bought the car as a company car, which subsequently was serviced and maintained religiously, with every refuel recorded with dates, distance and litres-filled up until August 1991! The car has clearly been loved and presents in near-new condition.

The single owner has racked up 214,763kms over their time with the car, but is ready to pass the 80s time-warp on to a new custodian.

The car is available via The Healey Factory in Melbourne, and is listed for $25,000.
