When was the last time you saw a Shadowtone SL/E on the market?
Holden had been touting the Commodore’s European-ness virtually since the original VB, but the VH’s range-topping SL/E really took the formula to new heights of cohesiveness and packaging.
In SL/E trim, buyers had access to the big 3.3lt six-cylinder or the 4.2lt and 5.0lt V8s. The three-speed auto was the only choice, as up-spec models were falling out of favour with manual gearboxes at the time.
With the optional shadow-tone paintwork and 15″ alloys completed the picture, and remain as stately and refined on the road as they did back in the 80s.
This blue-over-silver shadowtone VH SL/E comes to market specified with the 4.2lt V8, and presents in very original and unrestored condition.
According to the listing, the car has covered 83,987kms since new and has recently had its air-conditioning serviced and four new tyres fitted.
There was an equivalent 4.2lt shadow-tone VH project on the market recently, and sold for $9,500; but for reference that car needed a lot of work. It may not be in immaculate or show car condition, but it’s rare to see such an original, low-mileage and unrestored example such as this.
The car is based in Western Australia, and is listed for $43,888.
