1982 Ford LTD FD – Todays Tempter

Classic luxury limo, with one of the last V8s of the series

The LTD Fairlane was Ford’s counterpart to Holden’s full-size luxury Statesman, with this transitional series seeing the V8 tossed out with the new fuel-injected six taking its place.

The FD LTD update arrived early in 1982 and, along with the standard Fairlane, enjoyed its final year powered by a big bent-eight.

Aesthetically, this series most notably gained a new grille and taillights, and little else.

Mechanically, this series gained a new coil sprung watts link rear end which was one of the better handling live axle setups of its time.

The FD LTD you see here is on sale via a private owner in Victoria.

It’s reportedly all original except for a set of Simmons.

Featuring the 4.9lt V8 with the three-speed auto, it looks extremely well-kept with the listing stating a “fresh engine and running gear” as well as fully rebuilt steering and suspension.

It’s all matching numbers, and the body looks straight as an arrow.

The classic limo is currently on Club Reg, with 321933kms on the odo.

It looks like a very tidy car, and would be a great cruiser or even a luxo-daily.

It’s listed for $19,990, and you can check out the full listing here!
