1981 Porsche 924 non-turbo – Todays Tempter

Thought affordable Porsches were extinct? This one’s yours for four-figures!

The Porsche 924 arrived in 1976, and replaced the 914 as the Stuttgart shield’s entry-level offering.

For the first time in Porsche history, the car adopted a front-engined liquid-cooled configuration, initially adopting (with a dose of Porsche fettling) the 2.5lt inline-four from the Audi 100; before introducing their own in-house Porsche-developed 2.5lt unit along with the updated 944 in 1982.

It’s no secret that Porsche and almost all of its classical products have shot through the roof over the past few years.

Much of the market’s movements have been fuelled by the ubiquitous rear-engined 911, but as those icons continue to be priced out of reach for the average enthusiast, the trickle-down effect has noticeably dragged up numbers across the board.

So what’s left for the casual enthusiast with dream of owning a Porsche?

Well, try out this 981 naturally-aspirated Porsche 924!

The car is described as in “very nice” condition, and runs and drives – however its elderly owner is increasingly finding it difficult to get in and out of the low-slung sports coupe.

Details are scarce, though the listing states the car to have 121,000kms on the odometer, and from the photos it looks to have been lovingly well-kept and looks to be original – or very close to factory specification.

It looks to be a manual too!

Admittedly, the 924 isn’t the most prized of Porsches, and this one won’t be the fastest. But it looks like an honest car with a kicker of a pricetag – $9,750.

Affordable Porsche ownership does still exist in 2019! This car is proof.

It’s based in New South Wales, and you can check out the full listing here!
