1980 Ford XD Falcon Phase 5

Back room special

This is one of semi-mythical beasts that are real enough, but exist in tiny numbers. And no two are likely to be exactly the same.

In a feature on these cars we noted: “The ‘Phase’ series of top order predator Falcons have long been the darlings of the auction circuit in this country. Though never officially recognised or backed by Ford, the XD ‘Phase 5’  was largely conceived by long-term Ford designer Wayne Draper and fellow enthusiasts Bob McWilliam of Phase Autos (who managed the production) and legendary racer Murray Carter.

Wayne’s son Rob is now caretaker of the records on these cars.

This example is running the expected 5.8lt V8 with four-speed Top Loader transmission and is said to have maintained its original running gear. It’s being handled by Australian Muscle car Sales and is located in Brisbane, looking for offers over $90,000. Tel 02 6171 3030.
