1979 Holden HZ Premier wagon – today’s auction tempter

Classic escape vehicle

Maybe we’re biased, but we reckon a seventies Australian station wagon is pretty near impossible to beat as the ideal escape vehicle. Something that’s simple, reliable, comfortable, that you load a heap of gear into. Fuss-free.

If you’re with us on this, you’ll recognise this car, a 1979 HZ Holden Premier wagon, as being right up there on the desirability list.

By now Holden had its Radial Tuned Suspension well-established, which meant these things handled okay. In this case, you also score the legendary 253ci V8 with Trimatic transmission. That may not be the quickest combo out there, but it works particularly well on the highway.

Someone wanrted a few luxuries on this car, as it’s running power steering and air-conditioning, plus a roof rack. Overall it appears to be in largely stock shape with exception to the fitment of LPG and some interior trim.

It’s up for auction with Grays.
