Hemi-six in very original condition with no rust
Chrysler’s CM Valiant has traditionally been quite underrated against its peers. Arguably it arrived five years too late, whilst Chrysler at the time was diverting all development funds into the ever-successful Sigma.
Visually, it was a minor facelift, with a new grille and some brightwork. Look deeper, the car bore four quartz-halogen headlamps, and wider ‘sports’ wheels and wider radial tyres.
It was an ill-timed offering, but remains a great car.
The 4.3lt, 265ci motor was the best six on offer in its era; offering impressive power and durability with Chrysler’s “Electronic Lean Burn” technology. Underneath, newly improved suspension appeared late in the CL Valiant’s life-cycle and carried over to the CM range.
This 1979 Valiant Regal appears as factory, with the 265 Hemi-six and floor-shift three-speed automatic.
The seller states the car to be all original inside and out, with a near-perfect looking interior and very presentable body.
There’s reportedly no rust and never any accident damage – and looks like an amazing cruiser that’s definitely worth preserving!
The car is based in Victoria and is currently on Club Plates.
