A bona-fide Rolls with less digits on the price tag than on the number plate
The Silver Shadow nameplate first saw light in 1965, with the updated and evolved Silver Shadow II arriving 12 years later in 1977.
The Silver Shadow replaced the Silver Cloud, and was a developed to be shorter and narrower than its predecessor to appeal to European and American markets where the roads were deemed more crowded and smaller.
The Silver Shadow saw a modern, for the time, unibody construction, and also saw disc brakes and independent rear suspension introduced.
With self-levelling hydraulic suspension, licenced by Citroen, the Silver Shadow was lauded for its comfort.
The Silver Shadow II saw even more modern upgrades introduced, notably including rack-and-pinion steering.
Just over 30,000 Silver Shadows are believed to have been produced from 1965 to 1980.
This car in particular was ordered new in September 1977 as an Australian-delivered right-hand drive car. The owners took delivery of the car in London in March 1978, and used the car in Europe for 18 months before bringing it home with them to Australia by 1979.
The car is on offer by Oldtimer Australia, and boasts an incredibly documented history. Currently with its third owner who bought it in 2010 and has kept it fastidiously maintained, the car is said to present and drive beautifully.
The odometer currently sits at 106,368kms, and records show that is has only travelled 12,000kms with its current owner.
