1978 Holden HZ Premier – Todays Tempter

Very original and well-kept HZ Prem’: 253 V8, auto, two-owners

The HZ range is remembered by many as the last of the traditional full-size chrome-bumper Holdens.

Visual changes were subtle in comparison to the outgoing HX, but the big changes came under the skin with the introduction of ‘Radial Tuned Suspension’.

The upmarket Premier gained the Tri-matic auto as standard, along with tinted glass, pinstriping and quad headlights; on top of the bucket seats, padded centre console, carpet and push-button radio included in the SL.

This HZ Prem comes to market from the hands of the second-owner, and is described as “100%” original and unrestored.

The seller states that the body and interior are in very good condition for age – with some slight paint discolouration to the front clip, and a minor tear in the centre console presenting in line with an original 42-year old car.

The seller also points out that a small patch of paint has come off on the driver’s side just ahead of the front wheel – as visibile in photos.

Beyond the original paint, wheels, interior, original sales certificate and owner’s handbook – the car is said to have been serviced regularly and kept garaged.

Specified with the 4.2lt V8 – this old Premier appears to be an honest well cared-for survivor and might well be worth a look.

The HZ Premier is based in Tasmania, with the seller seeking offers around $35,000.
