1978 Ford Escort MK2 – Todays Tempter

Priced to sell due to owner’s unforeseen injury: 42,000kms & immaculate

After some time in the shadows of its older brother, the MkII Escort is finally getting some of the serious collector appreciation.

Of course, for most, it’s the two-doors that are top of the wishlist, and in RS specification; but four-doors offer plenty of flexibility as a regular driver, and are often much cheaper to buy in to.

They were even assembled locally, in Homebush NSW; available as a panel van as well as the two and four-doors.

Engines included a bevy of four-pots, from 1.3lt, 1.6lt to 2.0lt units.

This 1978 Ford MkII Escort Sedan bears its original 1.6lt engine mated to a four-speed manual.

It presents near immaculate with just 42,000kms on it since new; backed up by log booked servicing since ’78, and all receipts!

Original spare wheel is still in the boot, and remains unmodified.

It looks like an absolute plum, and a great find with such low mileage and originality!

The seller has priced the car keenly, at $15,000 (negotiable); unfortunately forced to sell due to “unforeseen permanent injury”.

The car is based in Victoria, and you can check out the full listing here!
