Last of the breed
Introduced in October 1976, the CL series was the final generation of the two-door muscle couple to bare the Charger moniker.
Changes made to the CL compared to the car it replaced, the VK, were mainly stylistic in nature, and included completely new front end bodywork.
The CL also did away with an XL specification model and, as a result, consumers were only offered Chargers in 770 spec.
Engine choices for the CL Charger range we varied, and included a 4.0lt and 4.3lt inline six-cylinder and a 5.2lt V8.
Power from these donks was sent to rear wheels via a number of different gearboxes that comprised a three-speed automatic, three-speed manual and a four-speed manual.
Production of the CL Charger ceased in August 1978, and with it the Charger marque, which had been in production since 1971, also came to an end.
This CL Charger is a 1978 770 model with the optional Drifter Pack in ‘Impact Orange’ and, according to the seller, has travelled an original 115,620 kilometres from new.
The seller adds that the Charger is a one owner vehicle and comes equipped with the 4.3lt inline six-cylinder and the four-speed manual.
