The 512 was a breakthrough model for Ferrari, replacing the Daytona and was the first in a series of road cars with mid-mounted flat 12 powerplants.
Its boxer layout mimicked what was going on with the marque’s F1 cars of the day, though they were quite different engines.
Nevertheless we are talking exotic spec, with a dry sump, 5.0lt capacity and a five-speed transmission.
Supercars.net notes: “The 512 BB is a great Ferrari to own. A well cared for car responds pretty much as you’d expect from a mid-engined car of the period and that’s a good thing. Plenty of power, great sound and decent dynamics as long as you aren’t stupid.”
This example would appear to have a well-recorded history which includes being delivered in the UK and then moving to Australia early in its life.
The car is with Oldtimer Australia in Brisbane, priced at $449,950.
