When was the last time you saw an untouched base-model SL Torana?
The LX Torana landed in 1976 and is remember as the last of the V8s, and the debut of the hatch.
In base SL trim, the hatch was bestowed with the 3.3lt six as standard, although the 4.2 and SS’ base 5.0lt were found on the options list.
Inside the cabin, revised instruments and revised bucket seats greeted the driver.
Of course, best remembered in this generation is the lauded A9X whose desirability over the decades has caused diabolical rates of attrition for lower-spec cars, many of which were cut up and turned into clones.
When was the last time you saw a seemingly untouched base-model six-pack Torana?
Well here’s one Contessa Gold over tan trim example, in the most pedestrian specification with the 3.3lt six pack and trimatic auto.
The car is described to be a true time-warp car with just 109,852kms on the car from new, with all log books, original customer order form and original registration certificate.
The car comes to market just two owners from new, the current owner having possessed the car for 12 years as a casual Sunday driver, and purchased off the original owner from a small country town about 200kms north of Perth.
The Torana is unrestored, untouched and all original; subsequently though it does show some bumps and bruises here and there. Most notably, some minor paint loss on the roof and bonnet, minor surface rust below rear window and on passenger door, small repair to left hand pillar, some dents on the boot and a tear in the driver’s seat.
It’s all there though, and original down to the glass.
