1976 Ford Fairlane Marquis – today’s tempter

1976 Ford Fairlane Marquis

If in the 1970s you were after a big comfortable touring car that represented the top of the range from a local maker, Ford’s ZH Fairlane in Marquis trim was the solution.

In a story on this series we noted: “The ZH was big and bold, with improved standard equipment, which saw it gain radial tyres, a limited slip differential, rear disc brakes and intermittent wipers.

“The model range too was further rationalised; with the 500 model taking place of the standard ‘custom’, and the Marquis occupying the upmarket offering with air-conditioning, power windows and twin “lounge seats” up front as standard.”

This example is running the 5.8lt V8 powerplant, matched to a three-speed automatic transmission.

Listed with Pennant Hills Auto Traders in Sydney, it’s on the market for $35,000.
