The XB Ford Falcon is the second iteration of the third generation of one of Australia’s greatest locally produced automotive monikers.
Replacing the outgoing XA, the XB was first released in September of 1973 and stayed in production until July of 1976.
Changes made over its predecessor were mostly cosmetic in nature, and the XB was styled to have a more aggressive look than the car it replaced.
The XB also saw the introduction of front disc brakes as standard across the model range, as well as a carpeted interior.
Power came from a range of engines that comprised a 3.3lt or 4.1lt inline six-cylinder and a 4.9lt or 5.8lt V8.
The shove from these donks was sent to the XBs rear wheels via either a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.
Body styles that the XB could be had in included a four-door sedan, five-door wagon, two-door coupe, two-door ute and a two-door panel van.
This particular XB is a ’74 coupe with the optional Grand Sport Rally Pack (GS) and the 4.9lt V8 which is mated to the three-speed automatic transmission.
According to the seller, the vehicle has travelled an original 167,000 kilometres from new and, judging from the photos, the vehicle appears to be in very good condition.
