Said to be genuine: factory 4.2lt V8 and four-speed car, 95,000kms
Holden’s new LH Torana was a transformative model for the lineage; an all-new longer and wider body offering Aussie buyers a versatile medium-sized vehicle.
Three trim levels were offered, comprising of the S, SL and SL/R (replacing the GTR).
The Base S engine was initially the 2.85lt inline-six and three-speed manual: although even in base trim, you could option the larger 3.3lt six or 4.2lt V8 as well as a four-speed manual and Trimatic auto.
The SL came standard with the larger 3.3lt and the same gearbox options; while the range-topping SL/R gave you the same big six and a four-speed as standard; with the 4.2lt and big 5.0lt V8s found on the options list.
This 1974 LH Torana presents in SLR specification with the 4.2lt V8 and four-speed manual – said to be genuine and numbers-correct.
Unfortunately, there is only one photo attached to the ad, and not much more information written.
The seller describes the LH Sedan as a “good original car” that “drives well”. They state that the car has 95,000kms on the odometer and inspections are welcome.
It does look to be a very neat example, and if it is as described – it might well be worth a look as a seemingly original narrow-body SL/R Torana.
The car is based in Queensland and is listed for $65,000.
