1974 Ford Falcon XB GT – Todays Aussie Muscle Tempter

V8 Goodness!

The XB Ford Falcon is the second iteration of the third generation of one of Australia’s greatest automotive monikers.

Built between September 1973 and July 1976, the XB Falcon replaced the outgoing XA, and brought with mostly cosmetic changes as well as standard front disc brakes across the range.

The XB was made available to customers in a number of different body styles that comprised a four-door sedan, five-door station wagon, two-door hardtop, two-door ute and a two door panel van.

Power came from four different engines; a 3.3lt or 4.1lt inline six-cylinder and a 4.9lt or the venerable 5.8lt V8.

The shove from these donks was sent to the rear wheels via a choice of either a three-speed or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.

The XB could be had in various states of specification and trim depending on the model you chose within the range. These models included the 500, Futura, Fairmont and GT.

The Falcon GT was the range-topping performance model for the XB range, and was only available in hardtop or sedan guise.

This particular XB GT is a ’74 sedan in factory original Pepper Red with the 5.8lt V8 and three-speed automatic transmission.

According to the seller, the vehicle has travelled an original 70,000 miles from new and is in very good condition.

The XB GT is $78,000 and anyone interested in this Aussie muscle icon can view the full listing here.
