You can’t help wondering what the original designers of the Vokswagen Kombi would make of its popularity today.
For something that started out as an uber-practical workhouse, designed to carry cargo or people, it’s had a remarkable career that includes becoming a style icon through the sixties and a highly desirable classic today.
We’ve seen prices on these things soar over time and, while the market appears to have settled down a little, they’re still fetching big money – paricularly if they’re a 23-window Samba.
This 1973 T1 from Brazil has been upgraded to 23-window spec and definitely has ‘the look’. It’s running a 1500 flat four with four-speed manual
