1973 Porsche 911 Carrera – today’s tempter

Seventies classic

At risk of stating the obvious, owning a car like a Porsche Carrera is pure indulgence though air-cooled Porsches have also turned out to be decent long-term investments.

As we noted in a feature on another air-cooled 911: “Oh sure, some of us grow up and do sensible things with money, like buy houses and investments and school shoes for the kids. But some people, even if they have done all that sensible stuff, just never scratch the itch to own that special set of wheels. Until they do.”

This 1975 Carrera is running in 911/83 spec with a 2.7lt engine claiming 210hp, matched to a five-speed manual transmission.

Originally delivered in Germany to a USA military customer, it has undergone a recent engine rebuild using the original magnesium cases.

The Healey Factory in Melbourne has it on the market at $195,000.
