1973 Ford XB Fairmont – Todays Tempter

Matching numbers in excellent condition, with documentation and books

A competent rival for Holden’s HQ at the time; Ford’s XB was an evolution of the preceding XA, with some more visual aggression, redeveloped engines and front disc brakes up front.

The XB proved popular, with 220,765 built in total.

This XB sedan appears in factory Fairmont trim, which gained power assisted brakes up front and reclining bucket seats as standard.

It’s all matching-numbers with the factory 302 Cleveland mated to a column-shift automatic.

The car was stripped back to bare metal, revealing a rust and damage free shell, with a respray in original Sandstone Beige taking place in 2016. A GS bonnet was also added at that time.

The Chamois interior is all original and shows just one small tear on the centre arm rest and side of passenger head rest. There’s a little visible sun fade on the top of the door cards, but it’s all there and au natural.

Original glass all round is still in place – with original dealer sticker on the back window. The car also comes with the original tools, jack bag and spare tyre.

The car sits on 12 slot wheels and bears GS caps as well as the bonnet.

This XB is unregistered currently but comes with its original plates, the listing too states that re-registration should be easy.

The car is based in New South Wales, and is listed for $35,000.
