Top-of-the-line big six
Back in the early seventies, if you were shopping for a Ford Cortina and had to have whatever was at the top of the catalogue, this is pretty much what you got.
It was the mid-sized TC-on Cortina with the big 250 cube (4.1lt) six out of the Falcon, matched to a three-speed auto. And that lot was in XLE trim. It was a competitor for the top-range Chrysler Centura and of course some of the more upmarket Holden Toranas of the day.
In perfoemance terms, a car like this could give an equivalent V8 Falcon a serious fright.
We suspect not a whole lot would have left the factory in this spec and certainly survivors are thin on the ground.
This one looks to be in reasonable shape and is with Grays.
