1972 Pontiac le Mans – today’s tempter

Seventies muscle

Pontiac’s third generation Le Mans series had lost the handsome squared-off look of the sixties, instead opting for a curvy seventies vibe.

For many, this was the last of the real lookers, as the series seemed to lose its way a little with generation four.

And if you think the curves look familiar, they were shared by other hero cars in the stable, such as the Oldsmobile 442.

By now the base V8 (you could still get a six) was the 350, joined by 400 and 450ci options. If you were cashed-up, you’d go down the option sheet looking to transform you Pontiac into a Judge GTO, complete with the unique bonnet-mounted tacho.

This example is just that – a Le Mans upgraded to Judge tribute, with a 400ci (6.5lt) V8 and four-speed manual transmission.

Definitely something you’ll find easily in the carpark, it’s with Prestige Motor Gallery in Sydney at $64,990.
