1972 Mercedes-Benz 220D W115 – Todays Tempter

Original Australian-delivered example of the popular W114/W115 range

The Mercedes-Benz W114 and W115 were a range of medium-size mainstream sedans and coupes, positioned beneath the luxurious S-class, built between 1968 and 1976.

They were the first all-new Mercedes-Benz following the The War, with all new components and an all-new chassis which employed rear semi-trailing arms and a ball-joint front end. This chassis design would endure under all Benz models until the creation of their multi-link rear in the 1980s.

The W114 range was comprised of sedan and coupe bodies, powered by a range of petrol six-cylinders: 2.3lts, 2.5lts or 2.8lts.

The W115 denoted the range of frugal-sipping four-cylinder petrols, and a range of diesel motors made up of a range of a number of inline-fours, and a single inline-five option.

This Australian-delivered example comes in 220D specification, denoting a 2.2lt diesel inline-four powerplant.

It is said to be in lovely original condition and runs and drives well. The car has covered 252,988kms in its life, and may appeal as a relatively fuss-free and increasingly desirable Euro classic.

There is not much more information within the listing’s description unfortunately, but on inspection of the ad’s photos; the car looks to be in well-kept condition throughout.

The classic Benz is based in Victoria, and is listed for $19,800.
