Looks mean in green
The Datsun 1600, known in its local market as the 510, is a series of small-sized vehicles built by Nissan between 1968 and 1973.
Assembly of the 1600 took place in a number of locations across the globe including Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan, Mexico and even locally in Melbourne.
Customers could choose to have their 1600 in different body styles that comprised a four-door sedan, two-door coupe and a five-door station wagon.
The Datsun derived its power from a range of inline four-cylinder motors that varied in sizes of displacement from 1.3lt to 1.8lt.
Drive from these inline four-pots was sent to the 1600’s rear wheels via either a three-speed auto or a four-speed manual transmission.
This particular 1600 is a ’72 model four-door sedan and comes equipped with a rebuilt L18 1.8lt inline four-banger with twin carbs and a four-speed manual ‘box.
According to the seller, the 1600 is very clean both inside and out, has recently been repainted including the underbody and has a new exhaust, new carpet, new seatbelts, new suspension and a new radiator.
The Datsun 1600 is $19,999 and anyone interested in this plucky classic can view the full listing here.
