Italian flare and Japanese soul

Launched in August of 1968, the Mazda 1800 was a midsized family car with a twist. You see, while it may have been built in Hiroshima, the 1800 was actually designed by legendary Italian stylist, Giorgetto Giugiaro.
How did this happen you may ask? Well in April 1962, Mazda signed a deal with Bertone to use the Giugiaro designed sedan after Alfa Romeo, who the design was originally intended for, turned it down.
Power came from a 1.8lt inline four-cylinder motor that produced 76kW and 152Nm and drive went to the rear wheels via either a four-speed manual transmission or a three-speed automatic.
The 1800 was available in three different body styles: a four-door sedan, a five-door wagon and a two-door coupe.
Production of the 1800 ceased in March 1973, at which time more than 39,000 sedans had rolled of the production line.
This 1800 SS is a 1971 model with the four-speed manual and, according to the owner, has a remarkably low 13,999 miles on the odometer from new.
The seller adds that the vehicle has been in storage for the last seven years and the vehicle is apparently mechanically perfect.
