Maserati is one of those brands with a colourful history and an exceptional catalogue of fast and interesting models. The Indy is one that doesn’t pop up often on the market, and sold in modest numbers – 1104 to be exact.
According to Maserati: “The Maserati Indy, officially presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1969, was a tribute to the two consecutive victories of the Maserati 8CTF race cars in the famous 500-mile race at the Indianapolis speedway in 1939 and 1940. This new car was designed by Vignale and was designed to bridge the gap between the Ghibli and the Mexico.”
Running a Ghibli driveline, this four-seater GT was produced in a few different configurations.
This example is running the 4.7lt DOHC V8 with five-speed manual transmission.
The car was originally delivered in the UK and comes with a history file. The seller notes some work has been done, including a rebuild for the air-conditioning.
This car is with Oldtimer Australia, priced at $129,950.
