Survivor cruiser
Holden was knee-deep in readying the fresh HQ range by the time the HG rolled around in 1970. As was typical for an end-of-life update, the HG brought a restyled grille and taillight design. Dual-system brakes as standard, twin-speed articulated wipers, recessed gauges, and child safety locks also made their debut.
This 1971-built Premier was ordered with an entry-level driveline, comprising a 186 motor and three-speed column manual. The interior apparently received the same spartan treatment treatment, with a radio delete originally specified – though it now features an OEM radio.
The four-owner, six-seater HG presents as a great survivor car, and is described as rust-free with “minor age marks” around the body.
Priced at $62,000, the car is above guiding range mentioned in our 2021 market review, but if it’s as neat as described it could be worth checking out. It’s based in Wandin North, VIC.
